Lumina String Quartet and SCA present
Summer Music Institute for Young Musicians

August 2 – August 8 & August 9 – August 15

SCA will present a two-week Music Institute for Talented Young Artists involving almost 70 local emerging musicians in the beautiful setting of The Palace Theatre, Stamford. The Lumina String Quartet, in its thirteenth year in residence at SCA, will conduct this Chamber Music Institute for Young Musicians, which has developed into a highly successful summer festival for talented students. As the ensemble in residence at Norwalk Community College, the Lumina String Quartet provides a meaningful contribution to Connecticut’s musical life.

Each week-long program includes chamber music coaching, private lessons, master classes and scheduled practice and rehearsal time (both alone and as an ensemble).

At the conclusion of the Music Institute on Sunday, August 15, SCA and Lumina String Quartet will present, “The Festival of String Quartets”, a public performance featuring participating musicians and the scholarship winner. SCA and the Presenting Sponsors will award a $2,000 scholarship to one student participating in the music institute at the August 15 performance. The award winner will be determined by the professional teachers involved through adjudication. The scholarship is to be used by the student in pursuing his/her musical talent.
